October 8th -Great Carolina Shoot Out Tournament - Myrtle Beach SC - Game 3

The RMAYSA HEAT wins in overtime versus U-14 CASL Flash.  The team effort and heart really showed in this match.  The opponents scored first.  Heat answered back with a great throwin by Kasey to the left foot of Marissa for shot high out of the goalies reach.  After 70 minutes of energetic play the game stood tied 1-1 and went into the tie breaker kick off format.  One player vs the goalie with five seconds to score.  The HEAT players in the shoot off included Claire, Kasey, Ashley, Camden, and finally our keeper Ally.  When the dust was settled the shoot off honors went to Keeper Ally for her intensely courageous saves and her own kick-off goal. The HEAT would advance to the final championship game.

The team ended this semi-final game on a terrific high and ready to really go for it all in the championship match.  Unfortunately the heavens truly opened up and the lightning came all round.  The remainder of the tourney was cancelled. Tourney authorities tell us there was four inches of rain on the fields in the next two hours.   Our opponents for the final match, U14 CF SOIYS Storm, were declared Gold winners following the tourney rules.  The disappointment was papable for all involved to not get the chance to play, to meet this challenge head to head.  Even with that disappointment, the HEAT played a fine tournament.  All players contributed  to the success on the field and the team spirit is greater than ever.

October 7th -Great Carolina Shoot Out Tournament - Myrtle Beach SC - Game 2

The HEAT loses in tie breaker to CASL Blast.  This was a close fought game all the way ending in regulation play at 0-0 officially.   The Breakers were good adversaries and the match well played.  The heartbreak occured when there was the goal midway through the first half that did not get to count.  Respect the refs we must for all that they do for us...still some times the proof is in the pictures. The refs suffered from communicaiton error and we'll have to forgive them.  We won't forget however the fine corner kick play.  We won't forget the determination this HEAT team played with and appreciate the general good sportsmanship the Blast players showed.  See the three photos below.

October 7th -Great Carolina Shoot Out Tournament - Myrtle Beach SC - Game 1

The HEAT takes the win over WCWAA Breakers 4-2. The team played well with high participation rates from the entire bench.   From the photos below plus bruises sustained, we can attest to the physicality of these teams.  They were big and strong to boot.  The HEAT rose to the occasion.

September 17th - HEAT takes the Fayetteville Force Premier 2-1

The Heat beat the home Fayetteville team.  The opening score was pounded home by Taylor B. midway in the first half.  The Force came back to score off a corner kick.  The HEAT was making a long strike down the sideline only to be interrupted by the half time whistle at the 31st minute of play.  The score was tied 1 to 1 at that point.

Second half the HEAT held signifiantly more possesion time and worked the width of the field better.  Claire drove the ball to the net for the final score of the day assisted by Kasey.  Keeper Ally made a particularly fine punch over the crossbar today and defensive player Theresa made a shot on goal effort from a corner kick play.   More photos  in the Photo Gallery.

September 16th - HEAT vs Carolina Select 4-0

The HEAT took the win today for our first home game of the season.  Scoring efforts were highlighted by two outstanding goals by new HEAT player, Taylor B.  The third score started off a chip shot over defenders from Marissa R. to Forward Claire F. who took it all the way home.  The final HEAT score came from Kasey C. playing at Center-Mid.

The HEAT defense proved inpenetrable for the day.  Keeper Ally, along with a rotating defense of Samantha H. Theresa H, Ashley B. Holly F.  kept the visting team scoreless for the game.

See the Photo Gallery for more photos.

September 9th - HEAT vs Sandhills Cyclones 5-1

The opening game for HEAT proved a decisive win for the team.  The first score came only minutes into the game with Left Forward, Claire F. making a quick strike to the net. The Cyclone offense answered back with multiple quick offensive efforts of their own.   Keeper Ally led the defense with a number of particularly fine saves during this game.  HEAT defense was able to deny the Cyclones all but one of these strikes. The score at half was tied 1-1.

The second half saw the HEAT jump alive to take possession of the field.  The second HEAT score came off an offensive run by Claire with a drop to Midfielder Kylie W.  Kylie made the perfect assist laterally to Kasey C. who placed it in the net for the first of her impressive offensive efforts of the day.  Kasey went on to make two additional scores for the day, one set up by a Marissa R. corner kick.  The final score for the HEAT came off a p.k. by Marissa to Brittany K. Brittany showed her  determination and focus to drive the ball to the net.

This game stands out for two other reasons.  First was the intense and physical quality of play and secondly for the sportmanship of both teams for the game.  Several injuries occured during play including a inadvertant kick to the teeth and one collision which sent a player for arm xrays. We hope that she heals well.  Despite these challenges, the support and sportmanship of all involved remained excellent.
